Sticky: How to use the new Freelancer listserver
You just need to modify your freelancer.ini in your EXE folder.
You’ll find the following line:
hostname = fllistserver.zone.msn.com ; GUN server in Redmond (DNS entry)
Replace that line with the following lines:
;hostname = fllistserver.zone.msn.com ; GUN server in Redmond (DNS entry)
hostname = gun.fllistserver.com ; www.fllistserver.com

I’m trying to create my ID to join and play but for some reason when I type anything into the space provided all I get are —— dashes. any help on getting up and running would be helpful. Thanks for doing this I love this game and have just re installed it. I wish we could get a sequel or something.

@ Baron:
Ids are created with a special algorythm. Filling in random chars won’t help you.
You could try install patch 1.1. Afair it fixed this kind of problems.
@ bravecoast:
If you want to create a LAN game there is no need to use the listserver.
If you’re unchecking the “Make your server internet accessible” checkbox your server won’t connect to the listserver.

I cannot modify my ini file! For some reason windows will not allow me to modify the file. I can open the file and read the file but I cannot modify the file in any way.

@Crazy:
I am trying to run a LAN server and I unchecked “Make your server internet accessible” and it still sits there trying to connect to a list server..
Anyways.. I tried to use your list server but my server keeps on losing connection while saying that it is sending game information..
any suggestions?

@Luminary:
You should install Freelancer Patch 1.1 which will stop connecting to the listserver while running your server on lan only.
It sounds like a firewall issue to me. Are you sure the there’s no firewall blocking the connecten?
What’s the servername/id?

Well, I installed Freelancer after having not played it since the global list server had been taken down. I’m quite bored of the single player aspect and I long to get some flying time with some people I can actually connect with. So when I looked around for an alternative list server, I was pleasantly surprised to find this site, in all it’s glory. Without haste, I edited the freelancer.ini file to match the criteria issued, passed Freelancer through my firewall and router, and revved up the game in anticipation…
…only to find that I can’t connect to the global list server. I’ve done everything I can think of, from disabling IPv6 (even though I’m aware that this is an issue with connecting to game servers, not the list server), to running the game as an administrator.
Is the server down, or am I just missing something?

You can disregard my last comment, I’m able to connect to the global list server now. I’m assuming the problem was server side as I changed nothing from before. xD
