Freelancer List Server v3 online
After some internal problems I’ve rewritten the listserver.
This time it’s written in C# what should guarantee stabilty.
The server part seem to work pretty fine but if you’ve got any trouble by recieving the server list ingame, please let me know.
If there won’t be any major bugs I’ll start to fix the “Update” button and the “leaving server” issue (At least I’ll try 
).
Just to keep in mind how to use the listserver:
You just need to modify your freelancer.ini in your EXE folder.
You’ll find the following line:
hostname = fllistserver.zone.msn.com ; GUN server in Redmond (DNS entry)
Replace that line with the following lines:
;hostname = fllistserver.zone.msn.com ; GUN server in Redmond (DNS entry)
hostname = gun.fllistserver.com ; www.fllistserver.com
I’ll add a patch.exe and a FLListServer.zip.flmod soon.

I got this to work up until recently. I swear I played online two days ago, but today its like the servers are gone again. Is something up with the global network or something?
Or maybe I frakked something up, but it all looks good.

i have a problem, i am trying to put this in but my pc says i can’t save it because the notepad is read only. What do i do here ?

You need administrator privileges to save to the folder, apparently (at least you do with Vista).

Hey ash you need to go into the properties of the .ini file and uncheck the read only box. This will allow you to edit the file and save it. If you have Vista, idk what to do.
Have fun… But yeah suddenly the servers arent showing for me either. I don’t get it. But I’ll worry about it another day! Thanks for the great MODs!

Well, the provider is doing some maintenance till tomorrow night.

I have Vista x64. Freelancer functions OK: I can connect to Listserver. All is OK
But If I run my server its allways looking for List server saying:
Connecting to list server…
Failed to make connection to list server…
Im with a private IP behind a Router (but my pc is a DMZ) so everybody can reach my pc in all ports.
Whats the problem?????

Well … Your server connects to 2300 UDP at gun.fllistserver.com.
The listserver will answer to the port your server has used (which is kinda random on every server launch).
Sounds like a router/software firewall issue.

Do u know a program that logs UDP traffic (from IP/port) to IP/PORT because only TCP traffic is show with common clasic program as Sysinternals TCPview :/
there’s other way to log? what is happening? :/

Well I was testing some things: Its not the router. (I connected the Server directly to Internet). All is About (I think) of VMware Workstation/Server that changes some things (bytes) of UDP packets (“UDP Checksum Offload” are incorrect). There’s a way to disable the checksomes in the Network Interface, I did it, but that’s not the only problem I discovered. It seems VMware bridging protocol service is something to do with the problem. I will try then with a clean system. Thank you ver ymuch for your support.

SOlved: it was really VMware Workastation (and some people say that happens with VMware Server Also): The UDP checksum Offload is not the one it has to be: (BAD Checksum) (Caused by VMware protocol: It changes some bytes of the frame to enabling Bridging capabilities) The VMware Bridging protocol must disabled (unckeck) in the Network Interface that connects to Router/Internet.

Ok….i have tryed basicly everything….every sugestion …every forum,i have the workaround to conect to see the server list…i do,but when i try to host my server,i can see it but noone else of my friends can…not even with the direct ip connection or the shortcut command line,i finnaly went to my Flserver console and saw that it tryed to connect to the server list and failed everytime,i know this issue has been brought up and i tryed diferent solutions but still cant get my server to conect to the server list…so…any hep would be appreciated

I also have norton security but it expired. Btw i have vista.

As far as I know you need to remove Norton. Deactivating isn’t enough.
