Several people told me about a “lag” issue by using gun.fllistserver.com.
It caused some kind of “frame-lag” while playing for some people.
This issue should be solved now.

As you’ve maybe already noticed there is a new “Freelancer Mod Manager” category on the sidebar.
This blog will now also handle the FLMM development.

I think it’s time for a short usage report.
The FL List Server is regularly used by about 60-70 servers.
I’ll check the client activity the next days and add it here.

If you don’t want or if you don’t know how to modify your Freelancer installation to be able to use the new List Server:
This installer will do it for you: Freelancer List Server Patch (installer)
Alternative: Freelancer List Server Patch as flmod file.

After some internal problems I’ve rewritten the listserver.
This time it’s written in C# what should guarantee stabilty.
The server part seem to work pretty fine but if you’ve got any trouble by recieving the server list ingame, please let me know.
If there won’t be any major bugs I’ll start to fix the “Update” button and the “leaving server” issue (At least I’ll try ).
Just to keep in mind how to use the listserver:
You just need to modify your freelancer.ini in your EXE folder.
You’ll find the following line:
hostname = fllistserver.zone.msn.com ; GUN server in Redmond (DNS entry)
Replace that line with the following lines:
;hostname = fllistserver.zone.msn.com ; GUN server in Redmond (DNS entry)
hostname = gun.fllistserver.com ; www.fllistserver.com
I’ll add a patch.exe and a FLListServer.zip.flmod soon.
I’ll rewrite the whole program cause of a non tracable major bug.
I’ve tried to find the bug over the last few weeks with moderate success.

Some days ago, I got the long-awaited message from a friend at Microsoft.
Despite his best efforts over a longer period of time, Microsoft won’t redirect the DNS to an un-secured server.
Anyway I want to thank him because he was the only person who at least tried it. Thank you!

You are able to use the FLListserver on your client and server by changing the following lines in your freelancer.ini:
Replace:
